Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday!!!

I just wanted to share with you guys a snapshot of my day: magazines! ;)
It's another rainy Saturday -- me + PJs + blog + magazines + hot chocolate = perfect!

Photobucket

I got my usual People and Lucky magazines, and I got a surprise in the mail: a free issue of Bridal Guide!
I remember subscribing to Bridal Guide back when I was taking a wedding and event planning course.
It's a really good magazine to have if a) you're getting married, b) you're either a wedding planner or studying to become one, or c) if you just love weddings in general. ;)

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Let Me Gush: My Thoughts on The Hunger Games

Happy Friday!!!

Okay, so I know everyone's been talking about one of the most anticipated (if not THE most anticipated) movie of 2012: The Hunger Games... and you're all probably tired of hearing about it, but just let me gush, please? ;)

I've mentioned countless times before that I absolutely loved The Hunger Games trilogy.
I waited patiently for March 23rd along with everyone else and I loooooved the movie -- it is so worth the wait! :D

Of course it wasn't as good as the book (it never is... except for The Devil Wears Prada -- the movie was way better than the book, haha!), but I still think they definitely did an amazing job. And I'm not one to nitpick over the smallest details (like stuff changed from the book and how it changes the meaning of the story) -- I was just there, a big fan of the trilogy, enjoying the movie. :)

In my opinion, The Hunger Games can easily be America's answer to the UK's Harry Potter (which I am also a HUGE fan of!) in terms of the costumes and the set -- they created a whole different world, much like Harry Potter did.

They also did an amazing job casting the right actor for each character.
I can't imagine anyone else being Katniss, Peeta, Gale, etc.

http://www.moviesandtvhistoryguy.com/hunger_games.htm Jennifer Lawrence of the Hunger Games.
Jennifer Lawrence -- Katniss Everdeen

She's a really talented actress, amazing!

Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellars (The Hunger Games)
Josh Hutcherson -- Peeta Mellark

He is such a sweetheart!

Gale
Liam Hemsworth -- Gale Hawthorne

Thanks to Liam and the way he portrayed Gale, I almost left Team Peeta for Team Gale, haha!
But yeah, keyword: Almost!

Lenny Kravitz -- Cinna and Woody Harrelson -- Haymitch Abernathy

Cinna = I want him to be my new best friend!
Haymitch = Waaaay more sober in the movie.
But I kinda liked that, and seeing him work behind the scenes was a good touch.

Katniss Everdeen's gorgeous fiery red dress in The Hunger Games
Stanley Tucci -- Caesar Flickerman

Stanley Tucci is brilliant -- When is he ever not, right? ;)
And I love how there's more of him in the movie.

Effie Trinket "The Hunger Games"
Elizabeth Banks -- Effie Trinket

Amazing!

The Hunger Games
Wes Bentley -- Seneca Crane

I thought it was so nice to see the Head Gamemaker in his element.
And not gonna lie, his beard is pretty cool!

President Snow #hungergames
Donald Sutherland -- President Coriolanus Snow

He tends to his roses, but he's still scary...

Rue from The Hunger Games! food
Amandla Stenberg -- Rue

She is adorable and I got all teary-eyed... okay, honestly, I pretty much sobbed when she, you know, died... :/

So yeah, I loved the movie -- I cried (many times!), I screamed, I cheered, I got mad, I felt proud of Peeta and Katniss... I'm so happy I watched it and I cannot wait for Catching Fire! :)

Have you guys seen it? Thoughts?

And the most important question of all...

Katniss & Petta during The Hunger Games

Spring Trends: Take Two!

Happy Wednesday!

Two weeks ago, we talked about how to master the Spring trends.
We had so much fun talking about them, so I was really excited when I found another magazine editorial talking all about Spring's Sexiest Trends:

So over wearing sweaters and jeans?
We totally feel you. Now that the weather's warmer, you'll want to try these eight super-pretty looks that take your wardrobe from blah to banging.

1. A LITTLE ROMANCE -

Photobucket

I love lace!
On my list are lace shorts, a lace dress, a lace top, and a lace skirt. ;)

2. WHISPER-SOFT PASTELS -

Photobucket

We've all said it countless times: We love pastels!

3. A BOMBSHELL BRALET -

Photobucket

This was also mentioned in my post from two weeks ago, and we all pretty much agreed that we won't really be comfortable with just a bra top -- unless, we're at the beach.

4. TRIBAL ACCESSORIES -

Photobucket

Can you say Coachella-ready? ;)

5. SOMETHING SPORTY -

Photobucket

I need to add some sporty items into my wardrobe.

6. MENSWEAR... WITH A TWIST -

Photobucket

Interesting!

7. EXTRA-SHORT SHORTS -

Photobucket

Ummm, the farthest I will go is short-shorts... anything that resembles an underwear needs to be covered up! ;)

8. CANDY-COLORED METALLICS -

Photobucket

Almost everyone likes candy colors and metallics, so I guess it's safe to say we'll like the two trends combined, right?

Which of these 8 Spring trends made your list?

Lip Duos: Shade A + Shade B = Always Flattering

Happy Monday!
(Can you believe it's the last week of March?!)

I was reading my Lucky magazine, and I came across a beauty rule:

SHADE A + SHADE B = ALWAYS FLATTERING

Interesting, right?
So, I decided to test it out. ;)

Photobucket

Ironclad rule: Any two lipcolors, mixed together, create a color that looks good on anyone.
Try it with any two lipsticks and you'll be amazed; try it with these new dual-ended $9 miracles and you'll be thrilled. There are 13 versions in all.

COVERGIRL Blast Flipstick Lipcolor

Create your one-of-a-kind look with our expertly designed blendable lip duos.
Mix and match cream and shimmer shades with the flip of a stick for a unique look with endless possibilities.

Photobucket

- Double-ended stick
- One shimmer, one cream shade
- Blend to create unique looks

How to apply:
1. Before you begin, apply all other makeup and ensure lips are smooth.
2. Starting at the center of the upper lip, apply the creamy color, moving outward toward one corner.
Repeat on the other side and on the lower lip. Use your pinky or a lip brush to fill in any gaps.
3. Apply the shimmer shade to the center of the lips only. Blend the color outward with your pinky or a lip brush.
4. Place a folded tissue between pressed lips to remove excess.

I love this flipstick!
There's really nothing bad I can say about it.

The colors are beautiful -- both alone and combined.
The slanted shape of the lipstick makes it so easy to apply -- it glides on smoothly!
It is moisturizing (but still use a lip balm, definitely!) and long-lasting.

I've read some reviews saying that they don't like the smell -- it's not the best smell in the world, but personally, I don't mind. I guess it really depends from person to person.

At $9 ($8.99 at Ulta), I think this is a really good buy!
Think of it as getting 3 lipsticks for the price of one. ;)

Here is a swatch of the CoverGirl Blast Flipstick in Pucker (805):

I love it!
I've been wanting to get the perfect pink lipstick, and so far, I am happy with this! :)

Other shades available:

Whisper (800), Glimmer (810), Flashy (815), Vixen (820)

Perky (825), Tease (830), Cheeky (835), Stunner (840)

Snap (845), Smooch (850), Minx (855), Intense (860)

To further test Lucky magazine's beauty rule, I decided to use this lip duo I got as part of a gift set from Clinique:

I'd say their beauty rule worked well for both of my lip duos. ;)

What do you guys think?
Have you tried CoverGirl's Blast Flipstick? Thoughts?
Which of the 13 shades available would you pick?

Have a fantastic week, everyone!!!
